How do I choose a homecare provider?
The questions worth asking, and what to look for in a regulated care provider.
5 min read
Choosing a care provider is one of the most personal decisions a family makes. Knowing what to look for brings real peace of mind.
Check the basics
- Are they registered with the CQC, and what is their current rating?
- Do they have clear safeguarding and complaints procedures?
- How do they recruit, train and vet their staff?
Ask about continuity
- Will the same carers visit regularly?
- How is the care plan created and reviewed?
- What happens if a regular carer is unavailable?
Notice how they listen
A good provider will help you understand your options without pressure. They will ask about the person, not just the tasks. They will welcome your questions.
Trust your instincts
If something does not feel right, it usually is not. Take your time, ask everything you want to ask, and choose a team you feel you can trust.
We welcome every question — and we are happy to be compared. The right provider should welcome that too.
